The inauguration of the “Stills of Life” exhibition took place with great success on October 24 at 6 p.m. at Underground Gallery 40. The event was attended by many contemporary art lovers and enthusiasts, who gathered to discover and explore each creation in more detail, taking the opportunity to meet the artists and creators of the pieces. “Stills of Life” brought together works by five talented artists who stand out on the national urban art scene: Daniela Guerreiro, Jorge Charrua, Mafalda M. Gonçalves, Mariana Duarte Santos and Regg Salgado. Each artist occupied a different room in the gallery, creating, in their own way, an immersive environment in order to convey their personal and collective narratives.
The curators of the exhibition sought to highlight moments of quiet and introspection, allowing the public to reflect on and associate each work with experiences that are part of our lives. With their own distinctive register, each artist brought their own unique vision, exploring everything from personal memories to more complex themes. Daniela Guerreiro, for example, is a figurative painter who seeks to show reality, naked and raw, exposing concepts and themes that are little heard and talked about by society. Regg Salgado, on the other hand, explores figurative art from a surrealist perspective, transforming real, everyday events into multi-layered visual stories.
The turnout confirmed the success and impact of the exhibition, which, as well as celebrating art, also provided a space for dialog and conviviality. Guests praised the commitment and detail of the various works and, above all, the artists’ ability to convey emotions in such a complex and creative way in their works.
