Place of arrival and departure of the great bellboys that made history in the Atlantic crossings during the first half of this century, the Dock of Alcântara maintains an important role in the operational structure of the port of Lisbon.
The neighborhood developed along an axis parallel to the Tagus River, between Avenida Infante Santo and Belém, with a strong Lisbon personality and very marked by its working past. The industrialization process gave way to the reverse process and a profound social transformation, most of which today are residential and business buildings.
