Remote Work in Portugal: Challenges and Opportunities for the Future

The study “Remote Work in Portugal: Challenges and Opportunities for the Future”, developed by Worx Real Estate Consultants in partnership with Gi Group Holding, aims to understand the impact of remote work on people and workplaces, providing valuable insights into the true role of offices in the future of work, as well as their influence on people’s lives and organizational culture.

Seeking to outline a clear picture of a transforming market, this research was based on responses to a questionnaire completed by over 160 managers and decision-makers from a wide range of sectors, complemented by market data and public sources.

The majority of respondents recognize the advantages of remote work, particularly in terms of flexibility and work–life balance.

However, significant challenges also emerge, such as a weakening connection to company culture and difficulties in team interaction.

Despite the increasing digitalization, workplaces continue to be viewed as essential spaces for fostering collaboration, reinforcing organizational identity, and contributing to employee well-being.

A more strategic hybrid model is beginning to take shape, with offices assuming a renewed purpose, more social, collaborative, and aligned with each organization’s identity and strategic vision.

The results are clear and highlight the importance of an integrated approach between people management and workspace management, with flexible, human-centered, and future-oriented solutions.
